Just your friendly, neighborhood digital and film photographer growing and exploring through the confluence of some of my favorite things: photography, human connection & storytelling in the PNW.
Photography speaks to me, it always has. Growing up, my dad had these aesthetic 1970s photo albums full of small, tinted orange photos that transported you back to that exact moment. I spent hours throughout my adolescence staring at those old pictures and the memories between the pages. That was when I fell in love with photography.
I began experimenting with digital and film formats in high school and have been in awe of the process ever since, particularly in the past few years as I’ve really begun to lean into it as a career path rather than just a creative form of self-expression.
Life through a lens - an ever-growing collection of ‘tiny moments’ that freeze a second in time forever, evoking emotion when you look at them. That’s how I felt as a kid looking at those old photographs and that’s the same tangible feeling I try to recreate with the photographs I take.
I’m enthralled with people’s stories; our stories are a visceral part of who we are. As we tell our stories, our experiences come alive, making up the innate features of who we are as people and how we connect with others — I believe photographs can do that too. I would be honored to tell your story.
I was a kid who loved the camera - not having my photo taken but taking pictures of others, especially in that awkward phase with a mouth full of braces and a face full of acne. All my disposable camera photos from middle school are of others. And for as long as I can remember, I pictured having a job and doing photography on the side. Never make your passion your job, people always told me. But it wasn’t until a few years ago I decided to bring that vision to life. For most of my twenties, I struggled with intense imposter syndrome (don’t we all), and I had things I needed to overcome before getting here. But here I am, finally. Doing the damn thing.
When I’m not taking photos or editing (which, let’s be real, this is most of it), you can catch me hanging out with my most perfect dog, Bo (and I mean PERFECT), taking him for a walk or a hike, planning/going on a trip with my pals or my partner, backpacking or camping, buying yet another plant, going to another thrift store or starting another home improvement project.
Being a documentary photographer is so much more than just knowing how to work a camera. It's about capturing a FEELING in a photograph. My father has these vintage photo albums that I have a visceral emotional connection to. They're completely unposed snapshots of the 1970's through his eyes. I want to create that for you and the people in your life who will look at them for generations. The raw, authentic moments. The real stuff.
I'm here to be your cheerleader, your confidant, and a wallflower, all at the same time. I show up early and scope out the area for the prime spots with the best ambiance. No matter what kind of shoot you booked me for, I'm there to make you feel comfortable, open, and real.
I believe in making people feel comfortable. That is my number one goal: I make conversation with you like we are lifelong friends and help you forget that there's even a camera present ☺︎
No story is one and the same. Yours will be finessed to share your unique journey.
